Bukowski Grill, Brixton Market
Grilled beef short ribs with tobacco onions, side of Waldorf coleslaw and chips cooked in beef dripping washed down with a vanilla milkshake. Intertwined with plenty of gossip, it was just the perfect Thursday evening with your favourite girlfriend. I can’t say anymore good things about Brixton market, except its the BEST!
Okan, Brixton Village
Okonomiyaki, a japanese street food from Osaka - is a savoury pancake with a cabbage and batter base, a variety of toppings and finished with a special brown sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, green seaweed flakes and bonito shavings. A seriously good lookin pancake huh? and on par with rivals Abeno, Soho seen here.
PS. Okan obviously wins on being in Brixton alone..
Okan Special - kimchi, prawn, squid and corn

Upstairs, Brixton
Hidden away on the top two floors of a victorian house in Brixton lies the not so secret and hugely talked about Upstairs restaurant. Featuring an eclectic european menu (on a French tip) every two weeks, the food stands out a mile. With chefs creating dishes that don’t look out of place in a michelin star restaurant, its setting within an intimate almost supper club type atmosphere around a friends house makes it very special indeed. I especially love that fact you need to ring the bell on the front door to get in! Proud that its in Brixton, can’t wait to go again!
Mullet, ox tongue, stone bass, lamb rump, cheese board!
Franco Manca, Brixton
Beautiful slow-rising sourdough pizzas, there are so many glowing reviews, don’t really need a one from me - they are pretty much faultless!

Lazy Sunday Morning, Brixton Farmers Market
Picked up some amazing Brixton Rye, fresh eggs and fruit at the farmers market. Stopped off at Federation coffee for some fine coffees (which really do live up to the hype) - loved the way they displayed their menu of drinks and funky interior, check out the bike seat! Cakes looked good too so will have to sit-in for a coffee next time. Wondered around in the sun some more - picked up a few other essentials then home to enjoy poached eggs on toasted Brixton Rye, lovely…
Beautiful Brazas
It has just occurred to me that I haven’t posted any pictures of food from Brixton yet and therefore find it very fitting that the first post for one of Brixtons finest is Brazas. I think it opened shortly before we moved here 3 years ago and was our rock diet for those initial few months. Serving delicious Portugese inspired food, amazing piri piri chicken, (never touched a nandos since) and wicked burgers along with a couple of great guys who run the joint AND being within 30 seconds walk of our flat, it’s no wonder it’s still our favourite over 3 years later! Saturday morning we treated ourselves to their amazing breakfast, I had an eggs florentine and my boyfriend had the full English…so good, we didn’t eat again until dinner.
Oh and I forgot to mention the desserts. Out. Of. This. World. We did swipe the last 4 of the custard tarts but think the rest deserves a separate post, so watch out for it.

Lazy afternoon around Brixton
What a stunning day, not a cloud in the sky…living in Brixton doesn’t mean we get to spend a whole lot of time there which is a shame. However the first weekend free we snapped up the chance to visit our local and infamous ‘Brixton Village’. Armed with my new camera, we roamed around the markets, cafes, pop-up shops and restaurants (which were rammed) and soaked in all the atmosphere. It was a Saturday afternoon and so busy we didn’t actually get a chance to eat there…boo, however our trusty Japanese, Fujiama was just around the corner, so ate there instead! Chicken katsu curry, delish!
Brixton brunch
I take pictures of my food. I can’t help it. I’m pretty sure I’m obsessed. So after countless people have told me to start a blog, I finally have. Hopefully it’ll evolve as time goes on as I share all things that inspire me, my travels, design and stuff that catches my eye…but mostly food. Hope you enjoy.
